Hue Status on off Feedback

Hi guys, 

what is the best and easiest way to get the Status of hue lamp? 

I would like to use something like that 

Hue_lamp = hue_status 

If Not (Hue_lamp) and (light_kitchen) then
 Turn on hue
End
