Ets connection closed by remote device - gjniewenhuijse - 16.03.2026

HW: LM5 Lite + Ext (i.MX6)
SW: 20240426
ETS: 6.4.0

When programming a device with ETS i received an error: connection closed by remote device 2.x.x (my new buttons).

How to solve this?

- It is possible to program the individual address
- It is not possible to program the application, also not the short option

What exactly is this new button you have? Is it maybe data secure?

RE: Ets connection closed by remote device - gjniewenhuijse - 16.03.2026

Berker S8014xxx0, not secure

RE: Ets connection closed by remote device - Daniel - 16.03.2026

I just tried ETS 6.4 on my instalation and it worked all fine.
Is LM KNX address from the same line you trying to download?

RE: Ets connection closed by remote device - gjniewenhuijse - 16.03.2026

Yes same line, i can program the individual address en 99/100 times the app download doesn't work.

RE: Ets connection closed by remote device - Daniel - 16.03.2026

What about LM itself, what is the load and how is the bus traffic?

RE: Ets connection closed by remote device - gjniewenhuijse - 16.03.2026

cpu/io 0.23 0.23 0.12, memory 9%, knx/tp op
very low bus traffic.

Try rebooting LM, did you try any other device not just this PB?

RE: Ets connection closed by remote device - gjniewenhuijse - 17.03.2026

I have rebooted the LM multiple times and tested other settings, but without success.

- I tested a USB programming interface and then it works right away.
- I cannot program other KNX devices either.
- I also have another LM located in a different part of the building, with its own KNX installation. It doesn't work there either. Both installations are behind a Mikrotik router. Could that have something to do with it?

RE: Ets connection closed by remote device - Daniel - 17.03.2026

Are you not connected to the same lan what LM is only via the microtic router?

RE: Ets connection closed by remote device - gjniewenhuijse - 17.03.2026

Lan A:
Microtik switch A
HW: LM5 Lite + Ext (i.MX6)
SW: 20240426

Lan B:
Microtik switch B
HW: LM5 Lite + Ext (i.MX6)
SW: 20240426

Lan A + B switches connected on the same Mikrotik Router
Lan A + B LM's connected over multicast IP

RE: Ets connection closed by remote device - Daniel - 17.03.2026

Are you connected to switch A when trying to download to LM A?

RE: Ets connection closed by remote device - Daniel - 17.03.2026

Did you try both tunnel and routing for programming?

RE: Ets connection closed by remote device - gjniewenhuijse - 17.03.2026

Problem found, but not solved Wink

I thinks its Mikrotik related, because when i disconnect 1 extra mikrotik css switch in my house the problems are gone.

RE: Ets connection closed by remote device - Daniel - 17.03.2026

Ok at last we know its not LM. Keep us updated if you figure out what was the problem with Mikrotik.

RE: Ets connection closed by remote device - gjniewenhuijse - 17.03.2026

Problem found: the Rithum Switch Pro and Rithum Switch connected to the LM with the KNX plugin are the problem.

Any experience with this product?

RE: Ets connection closed by remote device - gjniewenhuijse - 17.03.2026

Mail from Rithum: Each Rithum Switch uses one TP connection to an IP Gateway, in this case your LogicMachine. This connection is persistent.

Most KNX gateways publish the number of concurrent connections they can support, but I can't see that published anywhere for the LogicMachine. ETS uses the same mechanism, so if your gateway only supports one connection, that is what the issue is.

The Weinzierl 732, for example, supports up to 8 connections.

How many connections are supported by the LogicMachine?

does your device support KNX Rouring?

I made some test about 10 yaers ago, 8 tunnelibg connections worked without problem

RE: Ets connection closed by remote device - Daniel - 17.03.2026

We don't really specify the number supported of tunneling connections as it all depends of device load(LM doas much more then just KNX) but myself I used 6 at the same time in the past.

RE: Ets connection closed by remote device - gjniewenhuijse - 26.03.2026

Is is possible to temporary close the others connected devices, so i can program with ETS?
