Android app for LM - Daniel - 08.11.2017

Hi
Android app for Logic Machine was just released.
It works exactly the same way like iOS app.
Short video introduction is here

Apart of ability to discover all local devices and log in to LM and LM Cloud it has Google voice control and push notifications.
Google voice control will work only from Android 6.0 and up. Sorry for guys who use older android but it just didn't want to work.  We added support for 88 languages Smile you can guess that we didn't test all of them.
The configuration for voice works exactly the same like for iOS and tutorial can be found here.

Notification tutorial I will upload in separate thread.

Have fun!

Hi
Please allow choose http X https in the "Local LM IP row". I know this row is not just IP. I can write full URL which is great because this is the way how I can choose starting screen. But unfortunately I can't choose https.

Hi
In next version we plan to add default app selection to be able to skip home screen.
Why do you need https? iOS is blocking such connection so we kept it the same for both apps.

I'm in huge network and I don't want send passwords in plaintext in general.
I know nothing about connection between LM and clients but I'm afraid security based on access to windows is weak in many ways and I don't want to help potential attackers by uncovering of internal structure by showing http requests if it's not necessary.

- Please don't forget you need two selections. For PC (or big screen devices) and for mobile devices. It would be nice to guess the correct choice by size of the screen, offer the choice and store the user answer in some cookie.

Clear for https, but the issue will be self signed certificate. We will check what can be done.

This is mobile app so you will have it ether on your smartphone or tablet. We don't plan to make any windows based app for now.  User and password is stored in settings. No need for cookie here.

RE: Android app for LM - Thomas - 09.11.2017

Data consumed by the app

After I installed and started the LM app the data icon at phone notification bar didn't stop flashing. The app downloaded 32MB after 3 hours of using. I think the problem is the finder in the right upper corner. It's still looking for something. Can I disable it? Because it eats my whole data tarif in ten days.

Not in this version...  Thanks for info, we will look in to it asap.

??? Since the last firmware update we can insert a proper certificate signed by our internal domain signing authority.

- OK but user's credentials are still send through network.

Hi
Can you tell me bit more about your setup? What version of OS do you have? Did you switched off Wifi or did you just walk away from wifi network but wifi was still enabled ?
I couldn't recreate this issue here but I switched my wifi off and was working on mobile data only.

Hi
Can you tell me bit more about your setup? What version of OS do you have?
Android 7.0 Kernel 3.10.61. HW Samsung A36.

id you switched off Wifi or did you just walk away from wifi network
No. I'm sitting at my chair in my office. There's few wifi AP around configured as one wifi network. I don't know if the phone switch APs or is still connected to just one AP. But I think it doesn't matter.

but wifi was still enabled ?
I never switch wifi off

Maybe my last sentence in the previous post was confusing. I tested it on wifi data only. But I suppose on mobile data the situation will be the same. Especially when I'm connected through VPN.

Unfortunately I can't do a printscreen with statusbar on it. But The icon here never stops rotating. https://www.dropbox.com/s/u4ni9p9hd1daf6n/2017-11-10_11-58-44.png?dl=0

Here you can see WiFi data consumptions from the yesterday test https://www.dropbox.com/s/o2xbwykmz0enc7n/2017-11-10_12-02-37.png?dl=0

OK, When you wrote ''Can I disable it? Because it eats my whole data tarif in ten days''
Then I straight tough we talking about mobile data, this is what you pay for in your tariff.  When you are on Wi-fi then the transfer is free as you only doing it on local network.
Anyhow we will add new module to the app which will be monitoring if you are on Wi-fi or Data and just in case we will disable discovery when on Data.

- Unfortunately I can't test it on mobile data because our IT dep. has some issue with mobile VPN connections. But why the discovery can't be simply switched off as it can be on iPhone? On iPhone the icon is stopped. On Android it's still spinning. I can stop it but after I do something it starts spinning again. What is this good for in case the selection of LM has been done?

One more finding. The traffic depends on how many devices has been found. In our company the list contains hundreds of devices. But if I connect to a public wifi then the list is empty and traffic seems to be OK.

I will wait for more feedback till we make any decisions, We try to keep it as simple as possible as target person is end customer here. As less configuration as possible.
Thanks a lot for such active testing!

RE: Android app for LM - Krstfr2k - 13.11.2017

I have Norwegian voice recognition on my Android device but it switches automaticly to English(US). Is there a way around this? Same thing happens on iOS app.

On iOS app yes as we didn't enabled other languages yet. Try on Android where 88 languages are available.  We are not able to test all and we are waiting for more feedback from Android users to go for full list with iOS.

RE: Android app for LM - Thomas - 13.11.2017

Hi
I see 5 languages only. Android 7

Yes same here, I have tested both Android and iOS, I see the same languages.
The english text is working fine but I would prefer to have it in Norwegian! Smile
