Mbus on LM5 - Evens - 18.11.2018

Hi,

What is the easyest way to implement a Mbus meter to LM5?

I have a Kamstrup meter that i want to read data from.

I like to do the same. Do you need the Tecbase Mbus 10 RS232-MBus gateway here? LM5 is specified to handle MBUS, so you still require to use another gateway to interface the MBUS master to the RS232 port on the LM5...?

The meter itself is specified as MBUS master and has a RJ45 port.

If you must have a gateway it may even be easier and more flexible to get a MBUS to Modbus TCP gateway although it will be more expensive?

See this thread: https://forum.logicmachine.net/showthread.php?tid=1881

Your meter uses mbus physical layer but the protocol is different.

RE: Mbus on LM5 - dreamcatcher - 18.02.2020

So I would need something like this then:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32880750918.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.739b67catTmsbX&algo_pvid=1825d5dc-36d6-46b4-bef7-38872471109b&algo_expid=1825d5dc-36d6-46b4-bef7-38872471109b-11&btsid=0ab6f8ad15820229059326006ef033&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_

I prefer DIN rail mount option.

And then the driver to decode data must be written in the LM5.

I'm not sure that it will work. Normal M-bus is master-slave where gateway is a master (including power supply) and each meter is a slave. Your meter only uses M-bus physical layer. The meter is sending data over M-bus periodically. This means that you can connect any number of receivers but only one meter to a single bus. In normal M-bus you need to request data from meters so several meters can share a single bus.

Hi Admin,
how many m-bus meters I could read by a LM Lite with RS-232?
Thanks.
Br

LM does not limit anything here, check the converter documentation on the physical device limits.

RE: Mbus on LM5 - Domoticatorino - 01.12.2020

So can I not connect m-bus meters directly to LM?

I have to use a converter in any case?

Thanks.

Br

Yes you need converter.

RE: Mbus on LM5 - admin - 01.12.2020

These converters have been used by our customers: http://www.a2s.pl/en/imodcloud-solutions-mbus-converters-c-2543_2547.html

OK! I was just confused confused about RS-232 converter and gateway. We need a M-bus RS232 gateway which can be called converter as well.

Now it is clear.

Thanks.
