email with google security compliance - Gaurav - 10.09.2020

Hi,

We are using email send feature with lua scripts using sockets and smtp over port 587 and tlsv1_2.

While configure smtp for gmail server, we are compelled to enable allow 'less secure app access' in google security (https://myaccount.google.com/security).

Do we have options to send email that comply with google security (that is we dont have to enable less secure app access in google account) ?

I appreciate your help and suggestion on possible solutions for the above security feature for email.

thanks,
Gaurav

Gmail is not meant for automated e-mails. Their more secure authentication methods require human interaction. You can use other e-mail provider that does not require additional settings for smtp to work.

thank you for the quick response. I understand the limitation here. Since google consider the app less secure for the email and it is the significant player as well, it may pose the security concerns at some stage. On other hand, is there any recommended smtp servers that we shall be using and advise for automated email.

I have the same problem, so if anyone has some recomandations for this it would be great.

I am using today gmail, and it works from the SL I have in my office, but when I try to set it up in another SL, I get an error. If there is some email service that allows for the use of LM/SL to send email it would be great to know about it.

What i have seen is when using older backups as starting point that there might be a difference in the mail (common) function.

The old backup might hold another function that is imported with the backup. This could explain why it works in your office and not on the other project not.

Please check if the functions are equal..
