Thanks, edgars! That is good news. I'm volunteering to be beta tester (for HomeKit) :-)

I will appreciate support for Alexa! Smile let me now if you need to test it out.
I Know Amazon wants to have this in every room in a house, but with 7 far field mics, you can almost have one centrally located in each floor. unfortunately it doesnt ship to Norway yet.... But if someone wants to buy me 4-5 pcs and send over, i would appreciate it Wink

Take a look at Thinka or Homebridge (with homebridge-knx plugin).

This is done with a rp and node.js running homebridge..

Not the most wanted solution but if you already have the rp then it works fine.

I wait for native homeKit support or Alexa when available in the NL...

We’ve been testing HomeKit via a RPi for over a year on two different live systems so far. No hickups...

RE: Ios Siri or Homekit support? - gjniewenhuijse - 12.10.2017

I hope the hl/lm will support homekit in the future, not only siri.

For now we need to use a Thinka or a RP with homebridge (very stable).

Nope, thats for Siri integration, not HomeKit for so far i know.

RE: Ios Siri or Homekit support? - Mr.D - 13.10.2017

Hi gjniewenhuijse,

You are right! Se updated answer from Daniel.

Erwin, do you know if there will be native support for HomeKit on Spacelynk?
According to Daniels answer this is not coming... due to a chip...
I might misunderstand, but why is that since HomeKit works with homebridge and a RP?

RE: Ios Siri or Homekit support? - Erwin van der Zwart - 13.10.2017

Hi,

Correct, if we implement Siri, we will use same methode as EMBS does.

I have it running on my W4K (“Wiser for KNX” as homeLYnk is renamed this week to match our upcomming Wiser platform for residential) and it works fine. I think our companion app will be W4K remote, but have not seen details about it yet, so i could be wrong.

For homebridge, Daniel is right, it’s a hack approach that Apple can close any moment. I don’t want to promote a solution that is not sure of future.

Good news is that Apple might change security chip to software solution. That’s when it become possible to add homeKit without the need of expensive add-on chip from Apple.

We have to see what happens there..

BR,

Erwin

RE: Ios Siri or Homekit support? - Mr.D - 14.10.2017

Hi,

In relation to the security chip that Apple requires (well at least until it is software dependent), does any one know if Thinka has this hardware... if not, the Thinka (it the hack is closed from apple) is a waste, since it might not work in the future....

RE: Ios Siri or Homekit support? - Erwin van der Zwart - 14.10.2017

Hi,

Hmmm good question, i just checked there website to see if the product is Apple certified, nothing to find about Apple certification.. all i see is that the product is not available at the moment and in development..

Might indicate that they also are looking for the software authentication without the security chip (:

Erwin

RE: Ios Siri or Homekit support? - FatMax - 14.10.2017

Last I saw was that v1 didn’t have the chip and that they’re making v2 with the chip.

RE: Ios Siri or Homekit support? - Mr.D - 15.10.2017

Hi,

As you guys can see from this article:
https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/08/04/apple_drops_homekit_chip_requirement/
Apple has freed up HomeKit support, thus not requiring a chip Smile
Therefore I don't understand why Thinka would want to spend money on a chip, if they can use software...

Hopefully LM/W4K will get HomeKit support in the future.... and hopefully sooner than later!!

I am considering trying out the Homebridge solution in the meantime, I don't think (with all respect to the development team, they do a great job!!) HomeKit support for LM/W4K will be anywhere to see anytime soon Smile

Mr.D

RE: Ios Siri or Homekit support? - bmodeco - 16.10.2017

Hi,
I am using Thinka for more than a year now (first version i guess-software gets updated) and it is running ok even with latest ios-versions.
I am using it for switches, lights with dimming, blinds, scenes, still need to test the heating, etc... Response is very fast - almost instantly.
The floors, rooms, devices all show up in the home-app from apple on your iphone/ipad.
I also have an Apple TV running which means that you can use voice (siri) to control your home wherever you are in the world.
This also works very fast! 1-2 sec and you have response...
If the same implementation can be integrated in LM - would be great.
BR, Bart
