modbus comm problems
#1
Good morning,

I need some help. I have three different logic machines, each connected to a gateway that connects to a Circutor three-phase energy meter.

I created a profile for this three-phase energy meter and loaded it onto all three logic machines. I also created links to the group addresses of the devices generated from this profile for each three-phase meter.

Finally, I enabled the local > IP filters on portals 2 and 3 so that all the meter data from the logic machine in portal 1 is received in portal 1. However, it's not working with portal 2; it's sending very strange values. I'm not sure if I'm doing it correctly to obtain the Modbus data in a single logic machine.

Good morning,

The problem with the meter has been resolved; it was a power supply issue.

I have a question. As I've mentioned many times, I have three logic machines collecting data from three different parts of an apartment building.

Each logic machine has three Circutor gateways connected via RS-485 to single-phase Circutor energy meters.

When I created the Modbus profiles and devices, I configured everything on LM1: all nine gateways and all the meters in the building. I made a backup and loaded it onto LM2 and LM3.

Therefore, I have the Modbus devices on all three logic machines, and they are exchanging data without any filters or anything. I suspect this is causing communication problems.

My question is, should I delete the devices from each logic machine and only leave those connected to the gateways connected to each logic machine? In other words, should I delete the Modbus profiles and devices connected to LM2 and LM3 on LM1, and so on for the rest of the LMs? Thank you very much.

In theory modbus IP suports multiple connection but as long the LM already share the data it is just waste of resources and higer traffic. Usually only LM which needs the data would be responsible for reading. You already mentioned of some overloading.
I would probably divide the load for all 3 LMs.

So, is it best to delete the Modbus TCP devices from each LM and only leave the ones that are received on each LM?
