No totally sure which thread to post this in, but hope this is ok!
I have been playing around with the new Visu for some weeks, and I'm not really getting comfortable with it. I was hoping there would have been more elements from old "Touch", but I understand that it's impossible to make everyone happy
I'm coming from Gira Homeserver, and while there absolutely not all things are great with that one (after all, I'm migrating away from it for a reason), there are also nice things about it.
Anyway, I have some comments/problems/challenges that I will list, and hope for some comments...
1: Under "Tile view" here is a field for "Functions (tags)" - what is it used for? I was hoping/expecting that you in a plan automatically can show all functions with a certain tag - but I can't seem to figure that one out...
If it's a planned, but not yet implemented feature, I would really like if you somehow could have different "Title" for the widget when it's used "Stand alone" in a room and when it's used in a function view. For instance, in a room a widget could typically be called just "Lights" (if there's only one light source), but if I could have a plan with all widgets tagged "lights", there would be dozens for "Lights" - I would need a different title there.
(Gira Homeserver does this).
2: The "Numeric value display" doesn't work well under Tile View. It seems to show a maximum of 4 characters? So to show a temperature with unit, like "21.7 °C", it only shows "21.7..." But it also does that if I have no unit... But with 0 decimals it seems normal... Plan view is working as expected.
3: Still Tile View; is there a way to force a "new line"? I understand that this might be against the whole idea of "Tiles", but it's sometimes tidier and easier/faster to read values in a list, especially if you are looking for a certain descriptions. Like no matter the width of the screen (of course depending on the "Screen width threshold" for switching between Plan / Tile), there would be only one (or two, depending on use case, maybe) tiles in width. If this made any sense...
4: the "Plan link"-widget. It's very neat to be able to set a large icon for the Tile View - but the other settings from "Compact View" I'm not so sure about for Tile View. I can easily see use cases where you would want to have "Icon and value" and different texts for use with the Plan view, which makes the Tile view look weird...
5: I'm struggling getting the custom Javascript I have used in old Visu working. Haven't used much time on it yet, just copied and pasted. Is jQuery not a part of new Visu?
6: I'm a bit confused at the resizing of the Plan view. When I create a plan, and it's for example 1024x768 - it resizes to full screen (like 2560x1440 in my case), and that doesn't look great. Is it possible for it to show in the size it was designed for all the time?
Other than that I am of course eagerly awaiting widgets for temperature/modes. Hoping for a very customizable widget that accounts for both heating and cooling, (with "Heating message", "cooling message" and modes, maybe even fan coil control...) and a combined widget for dimming and on/off.
That's it for now...
