Logic Machine 5 Losing BACnet Connection
#1
Hi everyone,

We’ve been dealing with an issue on our Logic Machine 5 for the past 4 years. It communicates with a BMS server (Desigo CC) over BACnet, but since day one, we've had recurring problems.

Occasionally, all objects sent to the BMS reset to 0, and we completely lose BACnet communication with the LM5. At first, this would happen once every 2 to 3 months, but recently, it's been happening much more frequently—three times just this past week.

The only solution we've found is to restart the LM5, which brings it back online.

One more thing that’s a bit odd: I remember updating the LM5 last year, but when I checked it now, I noticed the software version is still 20210326. I didn’t verify the software version after the update, so I’m wondering if that could be related.

Hardware: LM5 Lite (i.MX6)
Software: 20210326

Thanks in advance!

Start by upgrading the firmware. If upgrade doesn't work then the micro SD card in LM is read-only state and must be replaced. Use industrial or high endurance card for replacement.

just finished the update, and it was successful! When this happens next time, should we take a backup before the restart so you can check what happened, or does it not matter?

Backup won't provide any useful info. If upgrade fails for any other reason apart from read-only card then the device won't boot at all.

No, the backup won't have any logs related to BACnet operation.

Any idea about this behavior? Should it be changed? It's really important because we control the kitchen's extract air in a restaurant through BACnet, and when this happens, it sends a value of 0 and shuts off the extract air fan
