Zigbee gateway integration
#1
In one of the topics I read that z-wave will be deprecated, fortunately I only have one z-wave device and the usb-stick.

So I'm looking at Zigbee and was wondering if I can already explore and invest in some devices knowing they will be integrateable in the LM5 in the future. A zigbee usb stick would be an ideal solution to start with on my desktop while later on be useable in the LM5, the same way the enocean usb-stick / solution works (like a charm).

However,  I read somewhere that the use of a conbee ii usb stick and the like is not possible, but will it ever be?
If not then I can put the whole Zigbee story in the fridge till further notice.

Which brings me to the second question, can you give an estimated date when there will be a solution for zigbee integration?
So I know when I can open that zigbee fridge again? Smile

Thanks in advance!

Any usb-stick based solution with MQTT can be integrated into LM right now.

Would be easier if you purchase the dongle form us as otherwise you need also extra hardware for flashing it.

Aha, didn't know there was already a zigbee stick to buy for the LM.
I'll send an email to Edgards for purchase.

Thanks Daniel for the info!

@myg
Do you meant a usb-stick directly connected to the LM and integrated such as enocean?
Not a usb-stick connected to another device and then using mqtt.
I know mqtt is the way to go for external integrations, but I prefer to have one platform/device.
The less platforms and bridge devices the better.

LM Zigbee stick is on the way. Thanks for the great service!

I'm getting some zigbee devices to test with.
Do below devices already work with the beta software?

- Xiaomi Aqara Smart Plug
- Xiaomi Aqara Waterleak Sensor

Thanks in advance.

Basic control for the smart plug should work out of the box. Leak sensor will require a profile to be added to the app. You will need to provide the reported Manufacturer / Model values of the sensor once it is connected to your ZigBee network.

Recieved USB stick today and upgraded to:
'LM5 Lite + Ext (4 or 6 DIN units): https://dl.openrb.com/lm-21-imx6/lm5m3ex-20210413.img'

Is there anything else I need to do for the Zigbee stick to work?

You need the app, do you have it? Do a reboot after plugin it.

Hi Daniel, I don't have / found the App.
Is it available on the 'Apps' page and how is it called?
Thx.

Got it all working.
Usb stick connected & working. App installed & working.
Devices are picked up but I guess there is no profile present for the first one and an incomplete profile for the second one.

Aqara Water leak sensor, model SJCGQ11LM, LUMI - lumi.sensor_wleak.aq1, 00158d00063296f0
  • When activating the device (simulating water leak) I see a transmitted message but no data. Maybe it just sends a heartbeat when detecting water.
  • There is no option to connect it to a group address, only name can be given.
Aqara Smart Plug, model SP-EUC01, LUMI - lumi.plug.maeu01, 04cf8cdf3c89df32
  • The device is able to monitor energy consumption and switching.
  • The switching part is present and I can connect it to a group address.
  • Energy consumption is not available, there is no option to connect it to a group address.
I've attached the log.

Can profiles be made for those 2 devices?

Can you provide a screenshot of the device list in the app? Adding the water leak sensor is easy. Energy consumption reading is not implemented yet but will be added soon.

Sounds great!

I also have the Zigbee dongle supplied from LogicMachine, but miss the app to start the integration and testing process. Can someone supply me the app. I use the latest SW 20210510 in my LM.

I have both a Phillips hue dimmer switch and a namron zigbee ligth bulb i try to pair.
Nothing happens in the app.
I manage to direct pair between the swithc and the ligth, but not to LM. What could be the trouble?
I attatch a log and monitor output from log.

UPDATE: Uninstalled the zigbee app i recieved from Edgars  (20210409) and installed older app i got from Daniel (20201112), now they show up. Bulb is controllable but dimmer switch is not updating. (Profile?)
