LM5p-KC stop working
#1
Hi.

The LM5 abruptly ceased functioning after six months of usage. Currently, none of the LEDs on the LM5 are glowing or blinking. Some elements on the circuit boards are hot, indicating that some current is still flowing through the circuits. A couple of days prior to the failure of the LM5, we experienced a power outage, but the LM5 appeared to operate normally after power restoration until it suddenly became inaccessible over the network. Is there any action I could take or modifications I can make to restore its operation?

Best Regards

Take another SD card, flash it with recovery image and see if you can connect to default IP.

Hi.

I have tried that. No connection at default IP. Still none of the LEDs on LM5 are glowing or blinking.

Here is a picture that shows the two areas that are hot.

Okay. Now I've tried something else. I put in the original SD card, disconnected the CANx ex-board, and powered up the LM5. Now, everything is back to normal and all the led's function as they should. I had nothing connected to the ex-board to start with. There is no visible damage to the components or the ex-board itself. Is there a known issue with this board?

This solder point is a slightly different color than the other solders (golden). It may be that this is the hottest spot on the thermal image.
