Control TV tunner via CEC HDMI from LM5

Hi !
We have a project which we want to control TV tunner via CEC HDMI and I found this article.

This is the example on LM4 but can we do the same thing on LM5?

This solution didn't work well as every manufacture used cec differently so we gave up on it. Most devices got an api which you can use over IP.

Okay I understand the situation

I'm sorry to bring this up again, but is it possible to send IR signal with LM5 ?
Or is it possible to send IR signal with RS485 ?
We are still trying to figure out the way to control the TV tuner and IR is also a way.
