Weather information

I was planning on buying a weather station for KNX, but the price for these are extremely high.
This one from Gira is within the price range, but the functions ar limited and it doesnt have humidity and athmospheric pressure

This one from Jung has everything, but it is the priciest:

My plan was to use one of these to measure outside brightness and turn lights automatic on or off according to this. In addition I want to present the outside weather as is in a visualization app on screens throughout the house. However the new eventbased sunrise/sunset function in my LM makes the need for measuring brightness outside unnecessary.

This leaves me with the question of either buy another weather station, just the outside temperature sensors or something entirely different?

So I am asking you, my fellow forum members, what is the best and cheapest way(preferrably cabled) for measuring outside weather data?

This weather station from MDT is very well priced(germany product, very qood quality):

(~220euro)

It hasn't measurent of humidity but for such measurement you can buy some additional sensor or use some weather service like yahoo or weather underground.

You can also consider Netatmo(150euro for both inside and outside stations) which is something betweenWink

I have been looking at the netatmo, and except wind measurement, it has everything. Although it is not cabled, I can go for that. It has it own visualization app for several smartphones or tablet, and that started me thinking what need is there for a weather station connected to the LM?

What should you use the data for?

The MDT has a lot of features, but the design on the gira and the netatmo is a littlebit better. Netatmo can be hacked to accept a power adapter at least.

My note to this topic:
Be careful about meteo stations containing mechanical parts. I don't know your living conditions but my experience from the part of earth I live in (Czech Republic - Middle Europe) is the mechanical parts got frozen every year. In case you're planning to control venting louvers then non-working meteo can make damage on your property.
I use Jung 2225 WS U. https://www.jung.de/en/online-catalogue/116477409/
This meteo station is not extremely accurate (especially wind sensor if I compare the measured value with values reported by stations placed in neighborhood) but reliable at enterprise level.
LM5Lp, firmware: 2018.08.22 and 2021.12.15, FlashSYS v2, ARMv7 Processor rev 5 (v7l), kernel 4.4.151 and 4.4.259

I am using the jung universal weather station like Thomas. I can confirm what he mentioned: works ok but wind is not very accurate. I had some difficulties to get it up and running but now it is running fine apart from some minor bugs.
The station also allows control of shadings for different sides of the house.

For lux measurement I am using the values from outside movement detectors since the one I am using is located on the dark side (yeah star wars) of my house - better than the position of the weather station.

The netatmo can be easily integrated in LM also - see scripts on the forum (I had this working fine), works fine also but gives you less information unless you buy all the extra modules.
