HMI panel M5Dial
#1
In the world of smart automation, control panels have become a major pain point. High cognitive load, input inaccuracy, and feature-overload often lead to user frustration and device abandonment.

We believe the solution isn't more features, but a better philosophy. That's why we developed our firmware for the M5Dial, a purpose-built HMI node designed for simplicity and reliability, and we're giving it away as a free DIY project.

Our approach is built on three core principles:

1. Radical Simplicity: A context-aware interface that lets users hide unused functions. Control is managed through an intuitive rotary encoder, eliminating the tiny touch buttons that cause misclicks.

2. Uncompromising Reliability: We deliberately chose the wired CANx protocol over Wi-Fi. This ensures a stable, dedicated communication bus, crucial for mission-critical systems.

3. Powerful Integration: M5Dial acts as a native CANx device that seamlessly integrates with LogicMachine, allowing it to control virtually any system (KNX, Modbus, DALI, ZigBee, BACnet, etc.).

This is our contribution to the community—an answer to overly complex and unreliable interfaces. Firmware, schematics, gerber-files are available on GitHub.
