Pause modbus function

Good afternoon,

I'm looking at the forum how to pause the modbus function.
I have two devices configured through the .json mapping, however I have to punctually perform readings on the same devices manually, there are quite a few readings and here the errors begin ..

Is there any way to pause normal log reading, so I would pause while performing the manual reads, and at the end of the process I would revert to normal.
